A high-grade Oriental Beauty style oolong from Sanming, Fujian, crafted from the Jin Xuan cultivar and hand-picked to the one bud, two leaves standard. Smooth, elegant and naturally aromatic, it reveals layered notes of honey, ripe fruit, flowers and freshness, with a silky body and a long, clean finish.
Oriental Beauty Oolong Tea – Dongfang Meiren is a refined, high-grade oolong for drinkers who appreciate complexity, elegance and depth in the cup. Produced in Sanming, Fujian at an average altitude of around 1100 meters, this tea follows the celebrated Oriental Beauty style while expressing its own distinctive character through careful craftsmanship and cultivar choice. It is made from Jin Xuan and picked by hand according to the classic one bud with two leaves standard.
What makes this tea especially distinctive is its naturally developed aromatic profile. The fresh leaves are affected by small green leafhoppers, a natural interaction that helps trigger the honeyed, floral and fruity character for which Oriental Beauty style teas are prized. The result is not an artificially scented tea, but a tea whose sweetness and perfume are deeply tied to the leaf itself and to the growing conditions. Taiwan’s official TBRS also identifies leafhopper-bitten tender buds as one of the defining features of classic Oriental Beauty tea.
Its production is complex and deliberate: withering in sun and shade, repeated tossing, semi-fermenting at roughly 60–80%, fixation, a second fermentation phase, rolling, breaking and slow drying. The finished leaf shows the characteristic five-color appearance associated with this style, while the liquor brews bright golden to reddish-golden, rich, mellow and smooth. In the cup, expect layered impressions of honey, fruit, flowers and freshness, supported by a soft, sweet body and a lingering finish.
This is an excellent choice for customers looking for a more sophisticated oolong experience — one that bridges aromatic elegance, natural sweetness and a polished, silky texture. Compared with more ordinary oolongs, it feels more expressive, more fragrant and more memorable, making it particularly attractive for tea lovers who value both craftsmanship and sensory complexity. The Moychay listing describes it as rich, mellow, smooth and known for its “beauty fragrance.”
Why this Oriental Beauty stands out
This tea can be positioned as premium for several real reasons: hand picking, one bud with two leaves selection, natural leafhopper influence, high oxidation, multi-step processing, and the characteristic five-color leaf appearance associated with the style. These are not generic marketing details — they are concrete indicators of a tea made with skill, selectivity and intention.
